Fort La Présentation Association

Fort de la Présentation

Fort de la Présentation as modeled by Jim Boyle

Fort de la Présentation was important to the French efforts to control of North America in the mid-18th century. The fortified mission at the confluence of the Oswegatchie River and the St. Lawrence River was founded by Abbé François Picquet in May 1749. Ten years later, the fort was abandoned when Britain was within a year of winning the French and Indian War. Over the past 250 years, the flags of France, England, and the US have flown above this key location that saw action in three colonial wars leading to the founding of the United States of America. You are invited to join us in rebuilding this historic fort.

Fort de la Présentation has been selected to host the final 250th Anniversary Event of the French & Indian War Commemoration in New York State in 2010.  Our hope is to have the Fort rebuilt and functioning in time for this national event. Your membership support will help us achieve our goal.
